*** About the Hollywood Sign:

*** Established in 1923 as an advertisement for a local real estate development, the Hollywood Sign has since become a cultural icon recognized around the world. Originally reading "Hollywoodland," the last four letters were removed in the late 1940s when the sign was repaired and revamped. Perched on Mount Lee in the Hollywood Hills area of the Santa Monica Mountains, the sign stands 45 feet tall and stretches 350 feet long. Despite its popularity, the sign has faced numerous challenges, including disrepair and vandalism, but conservation efforts continue to preserve its historical and cultural significance for generations to admire.
